HAMPSHIRE painted by Wilfrid Ball

Wilfrid Williams Ball (1853-1917) worked as a painter, watercolourist and engraver. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy. He is particularly well known for his watercolours of rural landscapes and local scenes. His views, now over a hundred years old, capture the idyllic images of the countryside before the arrival of the car. Ball published two lavish books of his work in the A&C Black twenty shilling series; one of 'Hampshire' (illustrated here with 75 watercolours) in 1909 and an earlier one for 'Sussex' in 1906.
